Planview Adds Multi-Currency Expense Reporting With Support for VAT

New v7.1 features include data mart & financial repository enhancements for improved business intelligence & financial systems integration

AUSTIN, TX — October 1, 2001 — Planview, the world leader in integrated project, service and resource management software and services, today announced at their 2001 Planview User Group Meeting in Austin, Texas the features for their latest release, Planview Web Software Version 7.1, with general availability October 29th, 2001. Planview President and CEO, Patrick Durbin, states, "We anticipate a very warm response from both our domestic and European customers and partners on these new and enhanced features. Long a leader in web-based, enterprise-wide management tools, Planview's latest offering increases our support of global organizations and strategic analysis."

Multi-Currency with VAT Tracking

For its many global clients, Planview now introduces multi-currency capabilities, and tracking and reporting on expenses of Value-Added Tax. The integrated expense-reporting feature can run in a browser-only environment for flexibility on multiple platforms. Other improvements to the Planview time and billing functions in Version 7.1 include the ability to automate review and approval on multiple timesheets, and to add remarks to timesheets at the approval stage.

Enhanced Data Mart with More Scoreboard Options

With Version 7.1, Planview has extended the Planview Data Mart to support more business intelligence needs. The Data Mart drives business intelligence applications and data analysis tools with information from the Planview central repository. On regular cycles, consistent information across opportunities/contracts, projects, resources and billing information is posted to the optional Planview Data Mart for quick generation of information for managers and project team members. Planview's own Scoreboard, a web-based tool powered by Business Objects that provides users access to work and resource performance indices from the Data Mart for comparing project portfolios, has also evolved into two offerings: a full "Pilot's" version that can generate standard reports and build new reports, and a "Viewer's" version which allows users to read reports prepared for them.

Financial Repository Available for SQLServer3

The Financial Repository is populated at the end of a processing cycle (normally weekly or monthly) with time, expense, billing and budget information. This information can then be used to drive business intelligence and to support enterprise financial systems, like Oracle Financials. With this release the information can be stored in SQLServer databases as well as Oracle databases.

Improved User Screens for Risk Escalation & Change Management

Planview's issue and risk escalation and formal change management which follow PMBOK® guidelines as proposed by the Project Management Institute, are now easier to display and track in Planview Version 7.1. Once the impact of changes to scope, budget, or quality of deliverables are attached to any level of the work breakdown structure, Planview displays real-time status of the risks and changes in sortable and clickable tables accessed through the Planview HomeView portal. An escalation process ensures that all appropriate project team members, managers and stakeholders are notified of risks and changes to projects.

Other New Version features include:

  • Planview offered the first interactive web Gantt chart with Version 7.0, and now with Version 7.1, both the Gantt and the resource profile can be printed on one page. Schedule bars can also now be added within the Gantt profile.
  • New alternate fields and structures in the Planview central repository allow more flexible modeling of customer sites without requiring software adjustments.
  • Resource scheduling in Planview Web Software Version 7.1 now offers enhanced support for split allocations. Version 7.1 supports any distribution of schedule work the user defines, including back-end loading.
  • The bi-directional interface with Microsoft Project 2000+ now has full HTTP security.
  • Administrators can now schedule more Planview updates, extracts, integrations, and other interactions to run automatically, with much flexibility in the administrator calendars.
