Planview Portfolio Management Version 7.3 Adds Strategic Management and Governance Model

New solution to help organizations manage risk and control costs launched at Gartner West Symposium/ITxpo2003

AUSTIN, Texas — Mar. 24, 2003 — Planview, Inc., the world leader in integrated portfolio, resource and project management solutions, launched its Version 7.3 at the Gartner West Symposium and ITxpo2003 in San Diego, California today. Planview Portfolio Management Version 7.3 delivers an integrated governance model, strategic management and resource & work management. The governance model is mature, proven management processes for picking the right work and using resources productively. Strategic Management is defining, scoring and prioritizing investment opportunities to pick the right work and measure performance. And Resource & Work Management is planning and managing how resources are assigned to getting projects done. The results are an integrated approach to managing risks and containing costs. New portfolio portals deliver investment and performance information directly to the desktop of the right person. In addition Planview PRISMS™ real-time business processes are extended to include investment stage/gates and dynamically built investment and project lifecycles. New resource and work management features include an enhanced web-based time and expense billing module and a new resource manager's portal to supply real-time information on overloads, staff availability, unfulfilled requirements, group performance and more.

"Our studies show that improving the governance model can offer real productivity improvements in IS/IT organizations," said Matt Light, Research Director with Gartner Inc. "Planning the right portfolio of IT projects can be done better using suitable applications — some of which can also enable improved resource utilization as well as better budget management and real-time risk management, all yielding a significant return on investment."

"Planview has a successful history in resource and project management." said Planview CEO and Founder, Patrick Durbin. "It is a natural extension for us to move into strategic business management and to address investment analysis. We understand the metrics needed to rank, score and prioritize investment opportunities and the performance information that keep investment owners informed."

Planview Portfolio Management Version 7.3 Includes:

  • Strategic Management — Rich strategic management functions use an investment model to rank and score investment opportunities, with an Investment Owner having varying levels of control via an Investment Portfolio portal, and a Portfolio Performance Portal for stakeholders and managers.
  • PRISMS™ Real-time Business Processes — Planview's mature and repeatable business processes to define a governance model for turning ideas into valuable assets now include investment management to mitigate project risks and enhance investment performance through an integrated investment and project stage/gate process.
