Planview and Hitachi Consulting Join Forces to Drive Alignment of IT and Business Strategies

Alliance will help organizations realize strategic benefits of portfolio management

Austin, TX — August 7, 2007 — Planview, the leading independent provider of portfolio management solutions, today announced a strategic alliance with Hitachi Consulting, the global consulting arm of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), to help customers align IT initiatives with business objectives through strategic and tactical planning and optimization of IT services. Under the alliance, Planview will provide executive, project and service portfolio management solutions and Hitachi Consulting will offer expertise in project management guidance and implementation services to large enterprise organizations.

The combination of Planview Enterprise® software and Hitachi Consulting services uniquely positions the companies to impact all aspects of IT planning and forecasting for their customers. This approach not only encompasses people and projects, but also applications, hardware and budgets. The result is more accurate demand management, capacity planning, budgeting and business process optimization. Planview and Hitachi Consulting have already successfully collaborated on implementations with Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport, the nation's second largest airport, and a Fortune 500 energy company.

"Planview and Hitachi Consulting project and portfolio management software and services respectively will enable DFW Airport to make more intelligent business decisions concerning resource allocation and project prioritization, and this in turn drives efficiencies and innovation within our IT department," said Chris Poinsatte, CFO, DFW International Airport. "With these improvements, we can better serve our customers and improve their travel experience."

According to Randy Green, Hitachi Consulting vice president leading the alliance, Planview helps companies better manage their portfolio of project and service investments in accordance with overall strategy and corporate direction. "Planview has developed one of the few solutions that can calculate and report on allocations of project cost across all sponsoring entities, helping companies more accurately estimate and manage intra-company charge-backs. This sophisticated capability is advantageous for companies that leverage an IT shared-services model," said Green. "In addition, Planview PRISMS®, a database of pre-built management best practices designed to improve operations and maximize functionality of the system, aligns with our services model."

According to Green, Hitachi Consulting encourages its clients to elevate their focus on project and portfolio management with the understanding that it is not enough to be on time, in scope, and on budget. He added that project and portfolio management are strategic activities that should be conducted in accordance with business objectives, and must tie back to overall corporate goals. Planview and Hitachi Consulting provide companies with insight on where to invest, how to track those investments, and make ongoing improvements.

"Hitachi Consulting's experience and business-driven approach is a perfect fit for Planview solutions and customers, already proven with several successful implementations," said Mark Homrich, VP of Business Development for Planview. "By helping organizations set up PMOs, implement business processes and define criteria to prioritize projects and resources, Hitachi's 3PM initiative is helping our customers take advantage of the visibility that Planview Enterprise provides in order to drive strategic business decisions."
