Planview Introduces MPM Performance Manager To Extend Customers Earned Value Management Investments

Planview MPM Performance Manager delivers timely, cross-program reports to help business leaders make informed and proactive decisions

Austin, TX — September 12, 2007 — Planview, the leading independent provider of enterprise-wide portfolio and performance management solutions, today introduced the Planview Micro-Frame® Program Manager (MPM) Performance Manager created for government agencies, program managers and business analysts who need more visibility and control over strategic business and IT programs. Planview announced and demonstrated the new product at the 2007 MPM User Group Meeting, September 10-11, in Dallas.

The Planview MPM Performance Manager is designed specifically for MPM data warehouses, which Planview announced with MPM EVMS version 3.2 earlier this year, to reduce report processing times and allow users to design more detailed queries and alerts. As a result, business leaders are better able to leverage EVMS data to take more proactive measures and make better decisions based on performance drivers across programs.

For example, Planview involved Northrop Grumman Corporation from the earliest stages of development and listened to its need for a solution to gain greater visibility into programs and projects and how they were performing. Northrop Grumman now has a way to view programs across the business area, which enables it to provide more insight to executives, make better decisions and understand the value of its Earned Value Management system.

"Organizations continue to face increased scrutiny on program budgets, greater oversight into operations, and changing, more stringent regulations, leading to ever evolving earned value management system requirements," said Patrick Tickle, CMO at Planview. "By providing insight into cross-project trends and issues earlier, MPM Performance Manager helps organizations meet the evolving and increased pressures, and most importantly, achieve a competitive advantage."

The MPM Performance Manager provides an organization-wide, cross-program, consolidated view into performance. Leveraging powerful analytics, the MPM Performance Manager examines performance data in the MPM data warehouse, revealing key indicators and trends that help users make more informed decisions and take proactive measures.

The new solution allows organizations to compare program performance by consolidating data into a single reporting system, which reduces the effort and errors from manual consolidation. Reports generated by the MPM Performance Manager can be developed without special customization, yet can also be easily tailored to meet each unique implementation of MPM for project-specific reports. Automated role-based reporting eliminates the need for a reporting expert and allows organizations to distribute management-level reports more broadly in the organization.

Additional features include customizable report templates and analytical performance drivers to help make better business and program decisions. MPM Performance Manager also enables customers to use data output to the most common productivity tools and efficiently export data to a broad range of formats, including Excel, PDF, RTF, and HTML. The new product also helps users customize management dashboards with drill-down capability to view trends at a glance and access underlying data.

To ensure the MPM Performance Manager delivers the greatest value to customers and easily integrates into an organization's infrastructure, Planview developed and designed the solution utilizing the latest Microsoft development tools, including Microsoft .Net®, Microsoft Windows® Sharepoint Services and Microsoft Reporting and Analysis Services.
