Planview Receives BMC Remedy Integration Validation

Validation of Planview OpenSuite for BMC Remedy Change Management enables customers to benefit from integrated Planview and BMC solutions

Austin, TX — February 19, 2008 — Planview®, the leading independent provider of enterprise-wide portfolio management solutions, today announced it has achieved validation for Planview OpenSuite for BMC Remedy Change Management. Announced in October 2007, the Planview OpenSuite integrates Planview Enterprise with BMC Remedy Change Management, the market-leading Business Service Management (BSM) solution.

The bi-directional interface between Planview Enterprise Project Portfolio Management and the BMC Remedy Change Management solution provides organizations with integrated investment analysis across all IT projects. The integration gives organizations an efficient, IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)-compatible approach to ensure that change requests are captured and aligned with the overall strategy, optimized based on resource availability and financially tracked to understand total cost of ownership.

"BMC and Planview have a strong relationship, and our products have been easily integrated to offer joint customers real, strategic value in a very short time," said Fred Johannessen Vice President, Technology Alliances & MarketZone at BMC. "Our integrated approach allows customers to realize new efficiencies, and better allocate resources to support strategy."

For organizations that follow the ITIL guidelines, a framework of best practices that is the most widely-accepted approach to IT service management, the joint Planview and BMC solution offers organizations an efficient approach to managing change requests that map to overall business strategy. Planview and BMC have been collaborating since they announced their strategic partnership back in June 2007 to offer joint, integrated solutions.

"Although around 60%, or sometimes even 80%, of the IT budget is spent on just operating the IT infrastructure, IT organizations do not really understand where and how these costs are being incurred," said Peter O'Neill, Principal Analyst at Forrester Research. "Ultimately, IT organizations must be enabled to do their cost accounting at a business service level so that true chargeback systems can be established."

The Planview OpenSuite for BMC Remedy Change Management is available today for joint Planview and BMC customers. For more information, please visit Planview OpenSuite for BMC Remedy Change Management.
