Planview Introduces Planview OpenSuite for BMC Atrium CMDBRobust integration to BMC Atrium advances service portfolio management and provides the most complete portfolio management solution for BMC Remedy customers Austin, TX May 6, 2008 Planview®, a leading independent provider of enterprise-wide portfolio management solutions, today announced the availability of Planview OpenSuite for BMC Atrium CMDB, an integration between Planview Enterprise and a market leading Configuration Management Database. Integrating the system of record for work and resources and the system of record for IT infrastructure enables organizations to optimize their service portfolios. More than any other portfolio management provider, Planview offers a comprehensive set of integrations to the BMC IT Services Management (ITSM) suite, including BMC Remedy Change Management and BMC Remedy Service Desk. Planview OpenSuite for BMC Atrium CMDB was created for organizations that want to integrate their core IT management solutions and improve their ability to manage services as defined in ITILv3. The CMDB is a strategic initiative in almost every IT operations organization and is a vital component of the ITIL and Business Service Management (BSM) approaches for managing IT services. By uniting portfolio management with business service management, Planview builds on the ITIL-driven trend of Service Portfolio Management (SPM) and enables a comprehensive, closed-loop change management solution. "Global 2000 organizations increasingly require coordination between IT service and IT project portfolios, which is key for business agility and to cut costs in a difficult financial environment," said Melinda Ballou, program director for IDC's Application Life Cycle Management Service. "Collaboration across these key areas helps organizations to be quickly responsive for more effective application and service management, provisioning and deployment." Planview Enterprise Service Portfolio Management (SPM) enables organizations to optimize their services portfolio through making decisions on what services to invest in, retire, enhance or outsource. Interoperability with BMC Atrium CMDB automatically and accurately populates the service topology in SPM so that Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of services can be assessed. By having a complete, up-to-date picture of services, managers can make more informed decisions to optimize their services portfolio. The service portfolio becomes part of the overall strategic planning process in Planview Enterprise to help organizations better allocate funding between sustaining operations and innovation projects. With the integration of BMC solutions to Planview Enterprise, project-driven changes can be seamlessly managed through the entire change lifecycle. Project-driven changes related to services are integrated via Planview OpenSuite for BMC Remedy Change Management to provide a closed-loop from projects to change requests to the CMDB. "We our committed to our strong relationship with BMC and recognize the company's leadership position in the market. The BMC Remedy user community is one of the largest and most well respected in IT and we are excited to have the opportunity to offer them deeper integrations to leading portfolio management products and services," said Patrick Tickle, executive vice president of Products at Planview. "This latest integration with BMC is another proof point underscoring our commitment to the interoperability of market-leading IT management systems." Further extending the partnership announced in June 2007, the integration to BMC Atrium CMDB is the latest in a series of integrations between Planview Enterprise and BMC ITSM offerings, including Remedy Service Desk and Remedy Change Management. Additionally, Planview is a silver sponsor at the BMC UserWorld, May 19-22, at the Lisbon Congress Centre in Lisbon, Portugal. Planview OpenSuite for BMC Atrium CMDB will be available for Planview and BMC customers with the release of Planview Enterprise 9.2, which will be generally available in Q2 2008.
