Planview Customers Inspire Convergence of Work and Resource Management in New Product Release

Innovative user experience for core PPM capabilities streamlines interactions and improves productivity

Today at its Horizons Customer Conference in Berlin, Planview® announces its newest product release, Planview Enterprise version 11.2. Working with a 130-member customer advisory group focused on core work and resource management capabilities, Planview designed the release to meet the needs of today’s portfolio management professionals across the enterprise and span a broad range of end-user maturity levels from novice to expert.

Rendered through the product’s new user experience (UX) introduced last year, the release includes a wide range of enhancements beyond the new work and resource experience, including Microsoft® PowerPoint-embedded interactive portfolio analytics, and enhanced application and service portfolio management. In addition, the release includes an updated version of Planview’s ideation management solution and more than 220 other upgrades.

The Convergence of Work and Resource Management

Historically, many organizations have separated the project management and resource management disciplines, and many PPM products have evolved to support this model. In today’s business climate of constrained resources, resource management is becoming central to project execution and requires seamless integration. Because customers want to manage projects and people in the same view in line with how they work, Planview has combined the two in this release.

The pivot is a single click, seamless interface that allows users to switch from work to resources in a single integrated view. Users can now more easily create work plans and assign resources with real-time visibility to existing commitments. They can monitor all resources on their projects in a consolidated view to better identify and resolve conflicts. In addition, they can easily adjust task schedules and effort profiles on their projects in one place and pivot back and forth between screens easily.

Live Data to Microsoft PowerPoint

Planview Enterprise provides organizations with the data needed to make informed portfolio and resource management decisions. While many visualization tools exist, the reality is that PowerPoint is the most common medium used to present information to make portfolio decisions. To that end, Planview Enterprise 11.2 allows users to embed new live interactive analytics and reports directly into PowerPoint presentations, including dynamic charts, multi-paged dashboards, and tabular reports. Meetings and presentations come to life with interactive analytics with immediate access to underlying data, allowing for collaborative decision making and scenario analysis.

Enhanced Portfolio Management for Applications and Services

Planview has extended the at-a-glance ribbon and configurable tiles to applications and services portfolios. Now, enterprise architects and portfolio owners can more easily access the key metrics, KPIs, notifications, and financials they need to make more informed decisions about the applications and services that support the business.

Ideation Management

Planview Enterprise Ideation Management has enhanced dynamic navigation, making it easier to access, implement, and collaborate on ideas across the business. New dashboards give administrators the ability to monitor the number of ideas along with the number of votes and comments. The new interface enables users to add images, documents, and comments to an idea.
