Planview Integrates Troux and Planview Enterprise to Advance Portfolio and Resource Management

Combination maximizes business impact of technology by connecting planning and execution across the Enterprise Architecture and PMO disciplines

GARTNER Symposium/ITxpo 2015, ORLANDO, Fla. – October 5, 2015

Forging a vital link between enterprise architecture (EA) practices and project management offices (PMOs), Planview’s® first integration between Troux and Planview Enterprise delivers a unique solution for connecting strategy and execution to more effectively optimize resources and drive transformation initiatives.

By integrating capability and technology management from Troux products with portfolio and resource management in Planview Enterprise, Planview gives today’s IT leaders a consolidated planning and management environment. As a result, enterprise architects and PMOs can work together more effectively to execute business initiatives, make more informed IT portfolio decisions, and ultimately help IT organizations achieve strategic, organizational, and technical goals.

“Planview is enabling two of the most strategic teams in any technology organization to come together like never before to manage one unified IT portfolio,” said Patrick Tickle, chief product officer for Planview. “This initial integration brings exciting new planning and execution capabilities to both the PMO and EA communities. Enterprise Architects now get the benefit of executing their business transformation initiatives in Planview Enterprise, and PMOs can further optimize their portfolios leveraging the business capability dimension of Troux.”

With this integration, both enterprise architects and PMOs can better plan and execute iteratively in response to rapidly changing business conditions and demands. The integration leverages the unique strengths of Planview Enterprise and Troux products in these respective disciplines to better support both in two main areas:

Realizing Capability Driven Planning: Through the integration, business capability hierarchy and associations in Troux are available in Planview Enterprise to drive portfolio analysis and decision-making. Combining the strategic perspective of high-level organizational goals with a deep understanding of the business capabilities that underlie the organization enables leaders to identify transformation opportunities, plan the resource allocation to support them, and manage them through execution in a holistic manner.

Conducting Project Assessments: Because every project carries the potential to impact the business, technology and enterprise architectures, Planview has integrated demand management and portfolio planning in Planview Enterprise with enterprise architectural information from Troux. With this insight, IT organizations can properly analyze and understand all new demand before going through capacity planning and project approval. Proposed projects from Planview Enterprise are sent to Troux, where enterprise architects can leverage the depth of information available to assess the technology and business risks. From this analysis, assessment metrics feed Planview Enterprise to ensure the portfolio view has a holistic picture of the investment. Once approved, project status flows back from Planview Enterprise to Troux to communicate progress and keep all key groups aligned.

Planview will be demonstrating the integration at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2015 this week in Orlando at booth 500 in the EA Marketplace. The integration is part of Planview Enterprise version 11.5 and Troux version 9.3.5 available at the end of October.
