Description

Technical based training geared toward Planview Administrators. Class will detail module and technical architecture to equip both new and existing administrators with the application. This will assist Planview Administrators with supporting the application more effectively and interacting with Planview Product Support.

    • This is an introduction to the class, and a brief overview of how Planview is laid out from a technical perspective.
    • Details about basic Planview configuration such as what INI files, where they are located, etc.
  • General Troubleshooting
    • Best ways to identify an issue and where the limits of the problem are.
    • What type of information needs to be gathered?
    • Isolating the cause through process of elimination.
    • Interaction with Product support and the lifecycle of a problem.
    • Planview troubleshooting tools such as tracing, BlackBox, logs, etc.
  • IIS and Planview
    • Discuss how Planview interacts with IIS and what Planview has control over.
    • Application pools, settings, and virtual directory configuration.
    • Common ASP errors and troubleshooting.
    • Common .NET errors and troubleshooting.
    • Using and modifying the web.config.
  • Databases and Planview
    • Interacting with the ODBC client.
    • What basics that Planview Administrators need to know about SQL Server or Oracle.
    • How to use DBANG and what some of the DBA scripts installed with Admin Tools are.
    • Best practices and common issues in copying an existing environment or creating a new one.
  • TurboESE, Manager, and Manage Work
    • Discuss how the TurboESE functions, common issues, additional logging, basic log analysis, and troubleshooting of various common problems.
    • Differences between Manager and Manage Work, common issues with both, and troubleshooting of various common problems.
    • Client-level specifics for Manager and Manage Work.
  • Intelligent Help / Sharepoint
    • Using Intelligent Help, common errors, and troubleshooting.
