Planview OpenSuite for Microsoft Project

Seamlessly integrate Planview Enterprise and Microsoft Project

Planview OpenSuite ensures seamless data transfer between Planview Enterprise and Microsoft Project through fully-supported, two-way integration. Users can import, or check-in, Microsoft Project schedules and resource assignments directly into Planview Enterprise. Once this data has been modified, users can then check-out the data for use in Microsoft Project.

Large data transfers run in the background and users are notified via email when a task is complete. Enhanced version control ensures that the transferred data remains accurate.

In addition to projects, users can also check out resource pools. This guarantees that the resource pools used in Planview Enterprise match those in Microsoft Project, while allowing users to leverage the resource-management capabilities of Planview.

Finally, Planview Enterprises Web-based format means individual desktop installation is not required.

Best Practices for a Successful Implementation

Planview provides a PRISMS Best Practices Guide specifically for Microsoft Project integration. This delivers a proven roadmap to successful implementation and use of Microsoft Project.

Topics covered in the Planview PRISMS Microsoft Project Guide include:

  • project management
  • check-in and check-out procedures
  • process controls

Consolidated Administrative Controls

With Planview OpenSuite for Microsoft Project, managers can globally move a number of key transfer options to the administrative level. This means that users can concentrate on project work while administrators can ensure consistent, efficient project administration within projects across the enterprise.

Planview OpenSuite for Microsoft Project features:

  • one-time check-in of project data from Microsoft Project streamlines the implementation of Planview Enterprise by importing in-process projects from Microsoft Project
  • check-out project data from Planview Enterprise expands visibility into projects by enabling users to share project information with outside sources that lack access to Planview Enterprise
  • bidirectional transfers speeds adoption and improves flexibility by letting project managers use the tool of their choice Planview Enterprise or Microsoft Project
  • resource pool check-out guarantees that resources in Project perfectly match the resources in Planview Enterprise
