In the 2012 Magic Quadrant for Integrated IT Portfolio Analysis Applications, Gartner positions Planview in the Leader's Quadrant based on completeness of vision and ability to execute strategically.
"The IIPA software market helps IT managers link, monitor and analyze their activities within a singular portfolio. This provides CIOs and other executives with holistic information about the IT portfolio when making difficult decisions and determining the state of their strategies."
Gartner gives Planview a Strong Positive, the highest rating possible, in Gartner's MarketScope for Project and Portfolio Management Software Applications. The report analyzes on-premises and cloud-hosed project portfolio management solutions.
"Providers receiving a Strong Positive rating in this MarketScope demonstrate a strong global market presence, depth and breadth of PPM functionality and integration to complementary IT software systems, and a strong commitment to cloud hosting that required these providers to make significant internal changes to accommodate a new business model without disrupting current operations."
Forrester Research, Inc. positions Planview as a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Project/Portfolio Management, Q4 2012. Planview achieved the highest rated current offering among the above-the-line solutions, and was cited as a Leader in both above-the-line strategic planning and below-the-line work execution. Forrester gave Planview the highest possible scores (5 out of 5) in demand management, portfolio management, project management and business intelligence.
Above the line: "Planview consistently delivers strong planning capabilities."
Planview provides a "robust analytics engine" and "the ability to forecast resource consumption at multiple levels for both traditional and Agile organizations." The report also recognizes Planview's integrations with ALM and other third-party applications which allow customers to "build comprehensive views of performance, health, and value of BT [business technology] investments."
Below the line: "Planview remains a Leader in a quickly changing market."
"Leveraging its strength in pipeline management, resource planning and robust yet flexible reporting options enables Planview to help teams to work together efficiently." Once again, Planview's integration platform with third-party vendors is noted for allowing "developers to work in their own tool set to roll in necessary project data for reporting."
IDC rates Planview as a Leader in Enterprise PPM in the IDC MarketScape: IT Project and Portfolio Management, 2010 Vendor Analysis: Four Views to Enable Effective Evaluation and says Planview's key strengths lie in its combination of portfolio and project management with operations coordination and process and methodology.
Ventana Research says Planview Enterprise 10.4 "is more enterprise-ready due to a set of capabilities that improve access and usability in the applications and the use of analytics… integration with ideation and planning processes as the core of the overall approach. Planview continues to address the business challenges in managing portfolios of assets and resources for which projects and planning is essential…customers can deploy its applications through software as a service and cloud computing."
