Planview Participates in IPv6 Transition Pilot with Lockheed Martin

Planview Enterprise portfolio management software will play integral role in Lockheed Martin transitioning part of its global network to simulate government transition

Austin, TX — September 5, 2007 — Planview, the leading independent provider of enterprise-wide portfolio management solutions, is playing an important role in helping Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] transition a portion of its global network to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). As the nation's largest government contractor, Lockheed Martin will utilize Planview Enterprise portfolio management software as it works through all phases of a full-scale IPv6 transition, similar to one that all government agencies have been mandated to undertake.

IPv6 is the next-generation Internet protocol that will increase the number of addresses available to networked devices. In 2005, the federal government was mandated by the Office of Management and Budget to transition its networks from Internet Protocol version 4 to IPv6. The Government Affairs Office estimates the transition will cost the federal government nearly $25 billion over the next 25 years.

The transition to IPv6 requires significant preparation and a thorough understanding of the process to ensure a successful implementation. By utilizing Planview Enterprise, Lockheed Martin will be better able to manage the IPv6 transition process with Planview's adaptive best practices and increased capabilities to administer budget, resources and capacities required for such a large-scale project.

"The transition to IPv6 is a significant undertaking for Lockheed Martin and the federal government," said Patrick Tickle, Planview chief marketing officer. "Planview is proud to be a part of this migration and of the role that Planview Enterprise will play in helping Lockheed Martin manage the complex process and resources surrounding the IPv6 transition."

The goal of the Lockheed Martin IPv6 transition pilot is to create a comprehensive IPv6 transition roadmap and best practices to aid future customer transition efforts. To support the pilot program, Lockheed Martin has established an IPv6 Center of Excellence to lead the transition, upgrading a network that spans laboratories in 10 different cities, from California to the United Kingdom.
