Planview Announces Rich Murphy as Executive in Residence

Former Deutsche Bank IT CFO will provide insight into leveraging portfolio management to help IT run as a business to control costs and achieve operational efficiency

Austin, TX — September 16, 2008 — Planview®, the leading independent provider of enterprise-wide portfolio management solutions, today announced that Rich Murphy, former Deutsche Bank CFO for Global Technology and Operations (GTO) and Support Divisions, is the newest participant in the Planview Executive in Residence visiting expert program.

Calling on his experience as an IT CFO for a global company, Murphy will share strategies with Planview executives and customers on transforming the IT organization from a cost center to a valuable business asset.

"The CFO of IT is under the gun to help his company do three things: drive revenue, cut costs, and mitigate risk. The ability to make smart, fast decisions about investment funding, appropriate resource assignment, and strategic delivery has never been more critical," said Murphy, IT CFO in Residence, Planview. "I look forward to helping Planview IT customers better understand how to prove their value to the business by leveraging technology to offer complete financial transparency into the cost of delivering their services."

At the financial helm of Deutsche Bank's GTO and Support divisions, Murphy oversaw a €6B budget that encompassed 23,000 employees responsible for more than 4,000 software applications; he provided financial support for those functions responsible for processing, settling, and reconciling the bank's business transactions; the organization managing the bank's data center, network, desktop support, and telecommunication functions; and for all cost areas, including legal, compliance, audit, and global management. His previous experience includes 16 years with AT&T, where he held a variety of financial and operational leadership positions, and an audit career with Price Waterhouse, where he earned his CPA certificate.

"We are excited to take advantage of Rich's invaluable experience marrying the high-level financial management perspective with a deep understanding of the complexities of information technology portfolios," said Patrick Tickle, Executive Vice President of Products, Planview. "Coupled with our innovative solutions, proven processes, and domain expertise, his knowledge will further our ability to help our customers achieve their strategic goals and make a positive impact on their bottom lines."

Established in January 2007, the Planview Executive in Residence program hosts a series of experts who bring an elevated level of industry experience, expertise and customer insight to the organization. Murphy follows CFO in Residence, former AMR executive Randy S. Leiser, and CIO in Residence, former SGI CIO Sean Worthington, now with Cisco Systems.
