With multiple teams, having different ideas of how to build and implement new features, we realized that the teams often started with close to a blank sheet of paper to design each new feature instead of reusing ideas and components made by other team, which led to inconsistencies and long delivery times.
To improve our processes, we decided to implement a systemic approach to design. Design systems have proven to be an essential tool to build robust and scalable interfaces. They help eliminating inconsistencies, creating an exceptional user experience and favouring the iterative innovation of a product. And ultimately, they contribute to improving productivity and facilitate the interdisciplinary communication within teams.
Meet Ilaria Tiozzo, Software Designer at Planview who will share the story and some learning points from Planview’s journey to build a design system from ideation to realisation. We will go through the benefits we’ve realized; how it improved our product delivery, increased enthusiasm and improved the way we communicate and work together in and between our teams.
Ilaria is an Italian designer, based in Stockholm, who joined the Planview team 6 years ago. She is deeply passionate about every possible field of design, and during her career, has worked on a great variety of projects ranging from graphic design, illustration, and front-end development to 3D modeling, motion graphics, and video editing.
In the past 4 years, Ilaria has focused on UX design, particularly with design systems. She strongly believes that they are an essential tool to implement intuitive and scalable interfaces and to facilitate communication within product development teams.
